The traditional high manganese steel plate is not suitable to be used as ball mill lining plate, its disadvantages are: easy to creep and extension, surface phase transition will cause deformation, and can not reach the ideal work hardening during work. e former is the fundamental reason of the powder leakage and broken bolt, while the latter shows that it cannot realize good wear resistance ability. We have to say even it got work hardening, but is not a sign of the degree of wear resistance, as the work hardening here is different from initial hardness of the lining plate.

In the 70-80s, domestic market developed a large number of high hardness lining plate, grinding ball material, such as high chromium cast iron, Ni hard cast iron, high carbon steel, martensitic ductile iron and medium carbon alloy steel, but they are not widely used due to low toughness.
