Iron base alloy (Fe-based) is one of the widely used hardfacing material, the biggest characteristic of this kind of material is good comprehensive properties, with a wide range of service performance and good price.

Fe-basis alloy can be classified into the following categories by different metallurgical structures:
1.Martensitic alloy steel.
The main hardening element is Cr, as well as Mo, Mn, Si, V, W and other strengthening elements, the total amount of alloy elements will not greater than 10%. The microstructure of the coating is low-carbon martensite, it has good machining performance and excellent impact toughness, also has good fatigue and cold fatigue properties. The typical use is the metal parts without lubricating rolling or sliding, such as hot rolling work roll, support roll, caster roll, guide roller, roller straightening and excavator roller etc..
2.High chromium cast iron
This alloy has high hardness at HRC 48-60, and have excellent wear resistance, only next to tungsten carbide under 200 degrees, while price is only one-third of that. Carbon content is 2- 6%, and containing 2035% chromium, mainly used for medium or severe abrasive wear pieces, such as agricultural machinery, mining, coal dust grinding machine etc.
